Introduction to Stellar Stationery

Welcome to Stellar Stationery!
Hello from Sonia and Ian Bailey, the owners of Stellar Stationery, a small stationery, crafts and gift shop in New Pitsligo.
We are in what used to be the Bank of Scotland on the High Street; they closed the branch in 2016 and sold the premises to the people who live in the attached house (which until the 1980s, was the Bank Manager's home, when it was sold by the BoS as a private residence).
Before it was the Bank of Scotland, it belonged to the Union Bank of Scotland. We believe that it the bank building was built by William Forbes (who built the Planned Village of New Pitsligo on the site of Cyaak in the 18th Century) who had his family's bank in the building. However, we are still researching into the history of this fascinating building! What we do know is the main part of the building was built in 1795, with the south extension added in around the 1860s.
In February 2021, we moved from Teesside, England to fulfil our dream of living in Scotland, purchasing both the Bank House and The Old Bank.
As I was looking for a career change and we wanted to make use of The Old Bank (Ian runs his management consultancy business in what used to be the interview room) I came up with the idea of Stellar Stationery. My aim is to showcase the many local crafters who live in and around the village as well as sell some stationery essentials and gifts that people would normally have to travel a fair distance to get. I have also sourced some wonderful products from small Scottish businesses; check these out in my Made in Scotland collection.
I have lots of other plans for the shop and will try to post regular updates.
Thanks for reading!
